Know This Before Taking Boudoir Photography!

boudoir photographyAmong the best gifts that you can make for your only groom and husband is a private ‘closet’ pictures of yours. Exciting, isn’t it? You’ve probably heard from friends and other newly weds how their hubby love these things so much. Which brings you to thinking about doing one!

But, there are a few things that all of you brides need to know before taking one.

What is Boudoir Photography?

The basic question. Boudoir is a type of photoshoot that basically takes pictures of you in your best appearance with little to no clothings. It is not a nude photography, but shots are taken to imply those notions with poses and lightning to show what is ‘almost visible’. (clears throat)

If you are going to make this into a gift, typically, having your wedding photographer to also include this in the package will make the process easier, and your photos will mainly focus on how to drive your hubby mad.

What Do I Wear?

This is apparently another most popular question from women when taking boudoir photography. The choice is wide, mostly relate to what colors look the best on you or probably what color your hubby loves. The type of clothes ranges from nothing (yep), underwear to lingerie and corsets. Some of must-have basic colors are black and white. Photographers usually have some props and accessories ready for boudoir photography, but bringing your own jewelries is also advised, since you probably know better about your hubby than the photographer.

And don’t forget your ring!

When and Where to Do

Since this is a very private session, it is best to do it close to your wedding party, at your best condition and shape, but not too close. Wedding party can be stressful and boudoir photography can only happen at its best when you are. You need to be able to feel comfortable and confident without stress showing on your face.

The time range can be one week before wedding or somewhere after your bridal shower. Going further back is also possible if you are confident, as long as you can feel relaxed and comfortable doing it. Each boudoir photo shoot can take up to 2 hours, counting in makeup and feeling good in front of the camera.

The place to do it can be anywhere you can get yourself a good amount of natural lightning in a nice looking bedroom. It can be a hotel room, a friend’s bedroom, or better, you own bedroom. Since the pictures are going to be presented to your hubby, the best recommendation would be your own bedroom, which drives the fantasy wild and an even bigger surprise. Ask your photographer where is the best place to do your boudoir photography according to her opinion.

Your Photographer!

This person is the biggest player in doing the photo shoot. Most of the time, your lover won’t get mad if you don’t pose in front of another guy half-naked, or if he knows that person well enough to not get pissed. Which leaves you to wisely choose your photographer! If your wedding photographer is a pair of husband and wife, the wife can help with this. If you don’t have a female photographer, you can find a woman that has the expertise.
