This is something that clients will be expecting from you as a wedding photographer and something that you need to really deliver well on. You don’t have to go for all of the same poses and all of the same compositions all of the time. This is something that might eventually bore your audience out. You need something fresh and interesting to keep people on their feet all of the time when they are looking through your photos. Although constantly thinking of something fresh and different may see like quite the tiring endeavor, it doesn’t have to come from you or you don’t have to start from scratch all of the time.

When you are taking portrait shots, it would always be best if you allow the subject that you are working with to inspire you and to more or less lead you to the compositions that you are trying to play up. What is that person’s personality? What makes that person stand out from the rest of the crowd? Think about the first thing that you noticed about that person and try to elaborate on it through the angles and through the photos that you are taking as a wedding photographer.

Aim for diffused lighting.

This will make your life as a wedding photographer so much easier when you are taking portrait shots. Diffused lighting is flattering because it wraps around the silhouette of the person that you are shooting portraits for while at the same time, highlights that said person’s facial features or profiles as well. There are so many basic techniques and strategies that will allow you to manipulate any kind of light, either natural or artificial, to make it come off looking like diffused lighting.
